We asked Gemma Donald of Lomond Ceilidh Band’s Daily Ceilidh the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
Now in their 30th year, the Lomond Ceilidh Band have been providing outstanding professional musical entertainment all around the World. Leading the band is Alan Small on accordion with Gemma Donald on Fiddle and Kyle Innes on Drums.
Why are you involved in Scottish music?
Having been brought up with Scottish music at the forefront, each one of the band members have been very lucky to be immersed in the music from an early age. Music can unite so many people across the globe and it’s wonderful to be a part of it all!
Any particular career highlights?
The band have performed all over the world at various functions and festivals over the years. One of our particular highlights as a band was being nominated at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards for Scottish Dance Band of the Year 2016 which was fantastic to be involved with.
During these last 8 months, Alan and Gemma started the Daily Ceilidh from their home in Cupar and saw audience members tuning in from every corner of the world during their shows racking up more than 75 performances in total reaching well over 750,000 views between Facebook and YouTube.
What are your plans for the future?
The band’s plans will be to bring more music to a wider audience with many more online performances as well as hopefully some real live gigs once they are possible again. They’re also hoping to release a few new albums containing many of the fan favourites from their Daily Ceilidhs so watch this space!!
