We asked Ewen Henderson the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
My name’s Ewen Henderson and I mostly play fiddle, pipes, piano and sing. I’m likely best known for playing in the group Mànran (as well as formerly with Battlefield Band and the Afro-Celt Sound System) but also released a solo album this year called “Steall”.
Why are you involved in Scottish music?
Because of all the gigs!
And I also grew up surrounded by Scottish music and started playing from a very young age. It forms a big part of my identity.
Any particular career highlights?
The last ten years were just one highlight after another (until Covid-19 stopped that in its tracks) but I’d say the release of my solo album, “Steall“, would be right up there.
What are your plans for the future?
Next up for me is recording a new album with Mànran but I also dream of a future in which I can gig some of the material from Steall alongside other real people, preferably with an audience.
