A usually ma characters are queer, trans, disabled, neurodivergent and \/ or workin class cause those are ma lived experiences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whit wis it got ye involvit wi the Scots leid?<\/strong><br \/>\nAh started writin when ah wus fifteen but it wusnae till ah went tae night classes in creative writin four or five years later than sumdy gave me a book by Jim Kelman. Up until then (outside The Broons an Oor Wullie) ah didnae know yi wur allowed tae write how yi spoke.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why dae ye feel it is important tae use Scots in everyday life?<\/strong><br \/>\nCause it\u2019s our voices!<\/p>\n<p>Plus sometimes thir just isnae words tae adequately describe things in english.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dae ye hae a favourite Scots phrase or saying?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Is there a Scots speaker who inspires you?<\/strong><br \/>\nFolk ah meet in the street inspire me &#8211; ah love earywiggin intae conversations!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you hear Scots spoken regularly in your local area? Have you noticed any changes over time?<\/strong><br \/>\nDefinitely!<\/p>\n<p>Ah moved tae Edinburgh about six years ago an one ae the things ah really enjoy is tryin tae pick apart folk\u2019s accents. Ah\u2019m not yet confident enough tae write in an Edinburgh accent but yi never know.
