
{"id":5254,"date":"2017-12-08T11:20:03","date_gmt":"2017-12-08T11:20:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/scotlandsings\/?p=5254"},"modified":"2017-12-08T11:20:03","modified_gmt":"2017-12-08T11:20:03","slug":"feral-choir-forgotten-carols","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/scotlandsings\/feral-choir-forgotten-carols\/","title":{"rendered":"Feral Choir: Forgotten Carols"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Feral Choir is looking forward to its seasonal Forgotten Carols performances, where they&#8217;ll bring to life songs and stories that have been handed down through the generations.<\/p>\n<p>The programme includes a mediaeval version of <em>The Holly and the Ivy<\/em> and a tale of Robin Redbreast written by Robert Burns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of the stories behind the carols and songs I\u2019ve found are extraordinary,\u201d says Feral Choir\u2019s conductor, Alison Burns. \u201cI\u2019ve composed music for a carol written for a Sunday Times competition in the 1940s, as well as discovering songs from the pub carol singing tradition in the Peak District.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The performances will feature a wide variety of music and we\u2019re delighted to be joined by reader Tom Pow, soloist Polly Bolton and harpist Irene Watt.
