This  is the 140th Anniversary of the formation of Ayr Choral Union &#8211; one of Scotland oldest choirs with a continuous history as an organisation since October 1876. They are performing   a Celebration Concert of their  &#8220;greatest hits&#8221;  on Sunday, October 30 2016, with some of their favourite soloists &#8211; Marie Claire Breen, (Soprano), Cheryl Forbes (Alto) Andrew McTaggart (Baritone) ,and  Gordon Cree on the organ. The programme, compiled from intensive research by the choir&#8217;s archivists, has something for everyone  &#8211; including an exciting new James MacMillian premier performance written for the choir &#8211; birthday cake,  fizz  and an  exhibition of memorabilia are all included in the ticket price.<\/p>\n<p>A Souvenir Booklet and  a new History of Ayr Choral Union are nearing completion too. The choir are delighted that so many former members are joining them to sing in the concert.
