The judges were very excited by the quality of songs entered and\u00a0decided to have two winners &#8211; one in Scots and one in Gaelic. Robbie is now heading into the studio to record his son and Neil&#8217;s is already recorded.<\/p>\n<p>More information about the songs below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Snawdraps<\/strong> <em>written by Neil Thomson and Gerry Cambridge<\/em><br \/>\nThis song celebrates the natural charm of the Snowdrop flower. Translations of the scots words within the song are as follows:<br \/>\n<em>blintert<\/em>: blown by boisterous gusty wind<br \/>\n<em>dowless<\/em>: feeble, lacking instrength or energy<br \/>\n<em>yirdit<\/em>: buried<br \/>\n<em>skinklin<\/em>: sparkling<br \/>\n<em>bauchle<\/em>: untidy or clumsy person<br \/>\n<em>smeddum<\/em>: spirit, energy, drive<br \/>\n<em>sin<\/em>: sun<\/p>\n<p>The words of the song were written by Poet Gerry Cambridge and feature in his book of Scottish Nature in poems, photographs and prose &#8216;Nothing but Heather!&#8217;.<br \/>\nFor more information about Gerry&#8217;s work see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gerrycambridge.com\">www.gerrycambridge.com<\/a><br \/>\nSnawdraps will be included on the rerelease of \u2018Shore Crab\u2019 this September\u00a0which features eight recordings of Gerry\u2019s poems set to music by Neil. He learned Gaelic growing up and now writes songs in both Gaelic and English.
