Muldoon’s Picnic’<\/p>\n‘Reviving the Scottish Folk Music Custom\u00a0Of Communal Song –\u00a0Mick West And Muldoon’s Picnic’<\/p>\n
Mick West and Muldoon’s Picnic have teamed up to create this wonderful project. There is a CD and also a booklet available to encourage and support those interested in Scots Song. You can see them perform live on 22nd September. http:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/scotlandsings\/events\/raise-your-voices-with-mick-west-and-muldoons-picnic\/<\/a><\/p>\n ‘The genesis of the latest offering from West, \u201cA Scots Chorus\u201d was in 2011 when he first decided he wanted to explore the possibility of working in concert with other voices and on hearing the amazing a cappella group\u00a0\u2019Muldoon\u2019s Picnic\u2019 perform for the first time knew he had found the perfect combination of voices\u00a0to realise the project\u2019s musical\u00a0potential.<\/p>\n It was while working folk clubs and festivals\u00a0and tutoring both adults and school students at the National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music in Plockton that\u00a0West became aware of how important a tool a folksong with a good chorus was to unlocking non-singer\/performers self belief<\/strong>\u00a0in their ability to sing and to engage with, sometimes, quite complicated narratives. Whilst discussing this with representatives of West Highland College and NCETM he\u00a0was delighted to find\u00a0that they where looking for quality\u00a0projects that would help introduce people to different aspects of the Scots musical tradition and so the seed was sown.’<\/p>\n
