\"ChorusAwards2015_logo\"<\/a>Thank you to everyone who made a nomination in the inaugural Chorus Awards.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The aim of these awards was to\u00a0showcase the outstanding\u00a0practice and\u00a0great things going on\u00a0in Scotland’s choirs and to celebrate and honour the people who are promoting singing together.<\/p>\n

We wanted to hear the stories behind the\u00a0choirs: What makes it\u00a0special? What are they\u00a0celebrating this year? What are they shouting from the rooftops?<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Local Connection award <\/strong>was for choirs particularly connected to their local area or community and was won by the Sick Kids Community Choir<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in Edinburgh.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Newcomer award\u00a0<\/strong>was for a new choir, choir leader or member who began in the last year.\u00a0Good Man & Friends<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>from Dumfries won this category.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Milestone award\u00a0<\/strong>recognised a choir, leader or member celebrating a significant milestone and was won by SoundSational Community Choir<\/a><\/strong> in Coatbridge which is celebrating its fifth birthday this year.<\/p>\n

The Unique Story award<\/strong> was for a choir with a unique story to tell and was won by the Joyous Choir<\/a><\/strong> in Maryhill, Glasgow.<\/p>\n

The Inspiration award<\/strong> was shared by two winners: Renfrewshire Carers Choir<\/a><\/strong> in Paisley and Kirsty Baird and Annette Hanley<\/a><\/strong> of Sing in the City, Edinburgh.<\/p>\n

The Young People<\/strong> award was for under 25s involved in choir activities and was won by Shetland based choir, Evergreen<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The judging panel also wanted to recognise those that were highly commended and shortlisted in each category.<\/p>\n

Highly Commended: Loud and Proud<\/b><\/a>, Edinburgh<\/p>\n

Shortlisted: Atomaig Piseag<\/a><\/b>, Oban<\/p>\n

Local Connection<\/b><\/p>\n

Highly Commended: Timebank Temptations<\/b>, Edinburgh<\/p>\n

Shortlisted: Glad Community Choir<\/b>, Glasgow; Evergreen<\/b>, Shetland; SoundSational Community Choir<\/b>, Coatbridge; Clark Community Choir<\/b>, Musselburgh.<\/p>\n

Young People<\/b><\/p>\n

Highly Commended: Bethany Forbes, BIG Project Youth Choir<\/b>, Edinburgh<\/p>\n

Unique Story<\/b><\/p>\n

Highly Commended: Hearts in Harmony Choir<\/b>, Glasgow<\/p>\n

Shortlisted: Sing! Moray<\/b>; Soisgeul<\/b>, Inverness; Glasgow Chamber Choir<\/b><\/p>\n

Newcomer<\/b><\/p>\n

Highly Commended: Soisgeul<\/b>, Inverness<\/p>\n

Shortlisted: Too Many Kooks<\/b>, Moray; Thomas Hughes, City Voice Choir<\/b>, Glasgow<\/p>\n

Highly Commended: Singing for Pleasure<\/b>, Inverness; Pauline Waugh, The Cheyne Gang<\/b>, Edinburgh; Tommy Chambers, SoundSational Community Music<\/b>, Coatbridge<\/p>\n
