Twenty five choir leaders from across Scotland came along to the 5th annual Scottish Song Leaders’ Networking Weekend at beautiful Comrie Croft at the end of February.
Introductions on Friday evening unveiled a whole range of reasons people were there. For some, it was to take time out and reflect after a busy year of leading choirs; for others, it was the chance to share ideas with more experienced colleagues; and, of course, it was a great opportunity to sing together, too.
The previous four Comrie events have had a mixture of sessions led by both external trainers and those within the group. This year, we were privileged to be joined by Pauline Down, an inspirational trainer and choir leader. Based in Cardiff, one of Pauline’s strengths is sharing tools and techniques for mentoring within networks. Feedback from the workshop has been extremely positive with people enjoying the creative techniques Pauline used, as well as the songs she taught as part of her session.
Another highlight of the weekend was what has become an annual event with our talented set designer, Ali M, transforming our meeting space into a cosy glade for an evening of singing, playing and sharing.
We’re looking forward to seeing how things develop over the next five years as more people start singing and are inspired to lead others. See you next year?
