In early 2013 Hands Up for Trad and Scotland Sings commissioned choir leaders Ali Burns and Christine Kydd to write a Choir Leader’s Training Manual.
This invaluable guide covers so many important aspects of being a leader, from starting out and how to turn it into a business, to warm-up techniques and choosing venues.
To launch the Manual Hands Up for Trad had a competition for 5 lucky winners to win a copy. All they had to do was to answer this simple question: What did Martin Luther King have to say on singing? (answer at the bottom of this press release!). We would like congratulate
– Karen Dietz
– Aurley Kennan
– Kerrie Finlay Macartney
– Phemie MacDonald
– Andrena Ballantyne.
for their winning entries.
Simon Thoumire, Creative Director of Hands Up for Trad, organiser of The Scots Trad Music Awards and BBC Scotland Young Trad Musician of the Year, said “This manual is a real treasure for any aspiring choir leader. From booking a venue to warming up a choir before singing this book will be invaluable to all wanting to start their own choir. Ali Burns and Christine Kydd are two of Scotland’s most respected community choir leaders and in writing this manual they are passing on information they have gained through years of experience.”
If you would like to get a copy of the Choir Leader’s Training Manual you can download one free or order a hard copy (for £10 +p&p) here http://projects.handsupfortrad.scot/scotlandsings/choir-leaders-training-manual/
