| Tell us about the song | I think I've been through just about everything during my time in Scotland, from crazy, insane circumstances, borderline professional betrayal, deathly and wholly unnecessary blows from totally unexpected corners, and suicide attempts. As a professional street theatre performer, running my first large scale street theatre project for the Commonwealth Games in 2014, Ian Smith's suicide straight after (legendary street theatre Artistic Director for Scottish-based company Mischief La Bas) hit me very heard, and finding out about Robin William's suicide on the day of Ian's funeral was indescribable - like God dying. For someone that uses a lot of comedy in my work, this was very hard to come to grips with. At the commemorative festival for Ian Smith a year later, 'Deathfest', I ended up unwittingly being the head pallbearer of his symbolic coffin, the day after securing the contract for my first really, really large scale street theatre project. It was by far the most traumatic event I had experienced in a long time - and there's been a lot of competition in that area. Surviving all of this, and looking at the legacy of my repeatedly highly reviewed work, particularly with school children, has, to say the least, given me a certain perspective, on life, death & love, which is reflected in this song. This track is produced by young Dundonian producer and composer, Innes Little, with sung vocals by Gaelic Soul Singer, Àdhamh Ò Broin. |
