Song title:Taigh Solais
Composer:Lori McTear
Taigh solais a thogail air creug, rabhadh ri seoladair a tionndach a bhata,
Slige mhuir a breac a chladach, comharraidh rudan beaga alainn,
Tonn a bristeach ri toabh an traigh, ran a mach anam gach creutair mhuir,
Bataichean staigh aig a chidhe, daoine beartach a cuir airgead air aghaidh
Chorus
Na rudan beaga furasta a th'ann
Chan'eil e a ciallaich moran
Ged a tha iad bregha
Chan'eil feum ann
Na rudan beaga furasta a th'ann
Chan'eil e a ciallaich moran
Ged a tha iad bregha
Verse two
Chuidich taigh solais mi, gam stuiradh tro na h-ammanan doiribh nuair a bhriste sin suas,
Slige mhuir a chuidich mi a chumail fois, le striut min a mhuir doimhne is gorm
Tonn a briseadh air feudh an t-saoghal, b'fhearr leam gu robh sin comhnla, chan'eil sin slan
Bataichean air beulaibh an traigh, cuinneachadh air mis is thus a coisich allaidh is fuasgail.
Chorus
Na rudan beaga furasta a th'ann
Chan'eil a ciallaicadh moran
Ged a tha iad bregha
Chan eil feum ann
Na rudan beaga furasta a th'ann
Chan'eil a ciallaichadh moran
Ged a tha iad bregha
I wrote this song around 4 years ago when I came back from a holiday I had had with my family. I thought of someone in a relationship and all of the simple little things that didn't mean much at the time but now that it is over remind you of them and how you wish you could be back there with them.
Originally I wrote this song in English but after recording the producer and I thought it would sound great if translated into Gaelic. We got in contact with a women who then translated it for us. I then learned how to sing it phenically therefore I cannot speak Gaelic but I love how this song has now been transformed beautifully and I feel incredibly proud to be able to sing from the language of my heritage.
My names Lori McTear and I am a 21 year old singer/songwriter from Glasgow. I have been pursuing a career in music since the age of 17. Since leaving school I have continued my music education by firstly studying B-tech in Music and Performance and HNC at the Academy of Music and Sound then studying my HND at North Glasgow and am now currently in my 3rd year of University studying BA Honours Applied Music at The University of the Highlands and Islands. As well as continuing in further education to widen my knowledge and understanding on the music theory and the business of music itself. I am also a published songwriter with North Star Music Publishing LTD with my first song being published in November 2015. This song was subsequently entered into the talent competition 'The Voice' in Germany to be the Winners Single. I have also collaborated with artists during this time which strives me to do better and improve on my songwriting as I adapt well to different genres of music.
Despite having learning difficulties with dyslexia and discalclula, I don't let it hold me back. Infact I think it makes me more certain that music is the career for me. I couldn't and wouldn't see myself doing anything else as it is something I love and nurture as though it where my child. I like being able to invite people into my world with my lyrics and for them to relate to the message.
