Download Here’s To All Our Common Wealth!
Here’s to All Our Common Wealth is new song commissioned by Hands Up for Trad and written by Phil Cunningham, Karine Polwart, Findlay Napier and Alison Burns for the Big Song Relay as part of the Commonwealth Games. This song will be sung all over the country – passed like a baton between choirs in different areas and the aim is to have 40 performances from 40 different choirs to greet the baton carriers as they run the length and breadth of Scotland in the weeks leading up to the opening of the Commonwealth Games on 24th July 2014.
Below are versions of the song in English, Gaelic and Scots including a version with a bagpipe march intro. The march is called Scotland’s Complements to the Commonwealth written by Simon Thoumire.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I sign up?
You can sign up here (please only do so if you have not already filled the form in):
http://projects.handsupfortrad.scot/scotlandsings/the-big-song-relay/
Did you receive the form I filled in?
If you filled it in and have been receiving newsletters then we have it, if you haven’t heard anything then please email Linzi to double check. Please only fill in one form for each choir or choir leader.
Will my choir get to take part?
If you wish for your choir to take part and are willing to go to the nearest place the baton will be passed then YES! Hands Up for Trad are aiming to have 40 performances (i.e. at least one choir singing every time the baton is passed in each local authority area) and would love all choirs from the same area to join together and sing all at once!
How do we learn the song?
You can register for the choir leader to go to the training day led by Alison Burns on 5th April here: http://projects.handsupfortrad.scot/scotlandsings/events/big-song-relay-training-day/. If you can’t make it along to the training day Alison could come and visit your choir at one of the rehearsals and work with you to learn the song, please email Linzi if you would like to arrange this. If neither of these options are possible, the song will be available for download (Scots, Gaelic and English, sheet music, MP3’s and British Sign Language) in your preferred format. Should you require any other format then please let us know and we will do out best to help.
How do I get in touch with other choirs in my area who are taking part?
If you have not already received an email with details of the other choirs in your area then please contact Linzi who can give you these details.
How do I get in touch with my local authority area contact?
If you have not already received an email with these contact details then please get in touch with Linzi who can give you them.
What if I have questions about stages, amplification etc?
Please get in touch with your local authority contact who will hopefully be able to give you more information on what is happening on the baton day in your local authority area including any other events you may be able to sing at.
