More news this week from another of our winning choirs. This is the 140th Anniversary of the formation of Ayr Choral Union – one of Scotland oldest choirs with a continuous history as an organisation since October 1876. They are performing a Celebration Concert of their “greatest hits” on Sunday, October 30 2016, with some of their favourite soloists – Marie Claire Breen, (Soprano), Cheryl Forbes (Alto) Andrew McTaggart (Baritone) ,and Gordon Cree on the organ. The programme, compiled from intensive research by the choir’s archivists, has something for everyone – including an exciting new James MacMillian premier performance written for the choir – birthday cake, fizz and an exhibition of memorabilia are all included in the ticket price.
A Souvenir Booklet and a new History of Ayr Choral Union are nearing completion too. The choir are delighted that so many former members are joining them to sing in the concert. Check our “What’s On” page for ticket details.
