Acquire are delighted to introduce an exciting new opportunity to bring performers and musicians throughout Scotland together to play and sing through an entire musical score in just one weekend on the 17th and 18th of February.
THE SHOW
The first Acquire ‘Sing-through’ will be Maury Yeston and Peter Stone’s ‘Titanic: The Musical.’ Titanic swept at the Tony Awards in 1997, with Yeston really capturing a beautiful, classical sound evoking the grandeur of the UK at the turn of the 20th century. Naturally, sinking a ship onstage isn’t the easiest of feats and therefore Titanic is rarely performed on an amateur (or even professional!) level. Along with the fact that the musical has over 35 roles, as well as a large ensemble, we feel this is what makes it the best show to perform in our first sing-through.
HOW IT WORKS
We understand how challenging it can be to perform or play in musicals in the wake of real-life commitments getting in the way and committing to a full rehearsal schedule can seem daunting – so Acquire ‘Sing-throughs’ present a fun and unique solution to this.
To ‘Sing-through’ a show, everyone meets on the Saturday morning to begin learning the music, working towards singing through the entire score on the Sunday afternoon alongside the orchestra. The ‘Sing-through’ will not be staged and will not be performed to an audience but is an opportunity for a full orchestra and a large chorus of singers to meet, learn and develop their skills without the commitment to months of rehearsal. It’s a challenging feat but a great way to get involved in shows you might not get the chance to perform.
