\"\"Shortlisted nominations have been unveiled for the 2016 MG ALBA<\/strong> Scots Trad Music Awards.<\/strong> The exciting announcement was made today via Facebook, the winners will be announced at the event on Saturday 3rd<\/sup> December, at the Caird Hall Dundee.\u00a0 Tickets are available from 01382 434 940 or <\/em><\/strong>www.dundeebox.co.uk<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Hailed the most prestigious awards ceremony in the traditional music calendar. Organisers Hands Up for Trad will hand out sixteen awards to the best Scottish trad talent across Scotland. This year\u2019s ceremony will see some of the biggest names in Scottish traditional music perform, including The Scott Wood Band, Songs of Separation and Mohsen Amini – who was crowned BBC Radio Scotland\u2019s Young Traditional Musician 2016 \u2013 and many more.<\/p>\n

The Album of the Year<\/strong> (sponsored by Birnam CD),<\/em> is arguably one of the most sought after awards and competition is stiff this year, with the award being contested by 10 nominees including Hamish Napier<\/em>, Ross Ainslie & Ali Hutton<\/em>, Jarlath Hendeson<\/em> and Dallahan<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Piping Live<\/em> is up against Orkney Folk Festival<\/em> in the Event of the Year <\/strong>category (sponsored by VisitScotland) <\/em>alongside Pulse<\/em> and Hamish<\/em> feature film.<\/p>\n

Blazin\u2019 Fiddles<\/em>, Elephant Sessions<\/em>, Maran, Niteworks, Skerryvore<\/em> and Treacherous Orchestra <\/em>make up the Live Act of the Year <\/strong>shortlist (sponsored by Greentrax). While Dosca, Top Floor Taivers, Ryan Young<\/em>, <\/em>and Tannara <\/em>are shortlisted for Up and Coming Artist of the Year<\/strong> (sponsored by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) category.\u00a0 A full list of nominees is below.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Voting for the shortlisted acts will be open from today, Tuesday 1st<\/sup> November, until Friday 18th<\/sup> November and you can cast your vote at https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/scotstradmusicawards\/voting\/<\/a><\/p>\n
