{"id":7048,"date":"2016-06-21T08:29:09","date_gmt":"2016-06-21T07:29:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/?p=7048"},"modified":"2016-06-21T10:14:52","modified_gmt":"2016-06-21T09:14:52","slug":"scottish-music-summer-school-at","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/scottish-music-summer-school-at\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottish Music Summer School at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This summer school held at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland\u00a0is led by\u00a0Dr Lori Watson\u00a0and\u00a0Jenn Butterworth, and offers an opportunity to gain insight into the research, rehearsal and recording processes for contemporary Scottish music-making, as well as explore the lively Glasgow music scene.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside fellow musicians of a diverse range of specialisms, you will be immersed in an exploration of the concepts and skills underpinning contemporary Scottish Folk music arrangement and performance for ensembles, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>repertoire<\/li>\n<li>stylistic aspects, including ornamentation, rhythms and phrasing<\/li>\n<li>memory and arranging skills<\/li>\n<li>ensemble interaction<\/li>\n<li>improvisation, extemporisation and composition\u00a0relating to the traditional idiom<br \/>\nhistorical and social contexts<\/li>\n<li>sound production and stage planning<\/li>\n<li>The main focus of each day will be intensive ensemble workshops and you will apply skills gained over the week in practice.
