<\/a>Hands Up for Trad\u2019s Trad Music Spotlight<\/a> is a monthly feature on a band or solo artist. It was first launched in February 2015 and features musicians who are working in the trad scene \u2013 both in Scotland and around the world. We asked RURA a few questions.<\/p>\n

\"photo-trads\"When was the band formed?<\/strong>
\nJack Smedley (fiddle), Steven Blake (pipes\/whistle) & David Foley (bodhran) met whilst at university together and met singer Adam Holmes and the bands first guitarist Chris Waite through various projects in and around Glasgow. The band formed in 2010 and we performed a few times throughout the following months. In 2011 we really started getting proper slots at festivals and gigs.<\/p>\n

What excites you about performing Scottish music?<\/strong>
\nI think we all love how diverse the scene is. There are so many amazing bands and musicians within Scotland. Some of the collaborative projects that have come out of the scene over recent years and the influence other genres have had on folk music is very exciting too.<\/p>\n

What’s next for you?<\/strong>
\nThroughout 2016 we’ll be touring the UK, Austria and Germany. We’re also set for another busy summer of festivals including a return visit to T\u00f8nder Festival in Denmark!<\/p>\n
