All-star line up set for Glasgow\u2019s Royal National M\u00f2d"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-medium\"><a href=\"https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2026\/06\/Gael-Force_Final-02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2026\/06\/Gael-Force_Final-02-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"poster\" class=\"wp-image-28147\" srcset=\"https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2026\/06\/Gael-Force_Final-02-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2026\/06\/Gael-Force_Final-02-768x960.jpg 768w, https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2026\/06\/Gael-Force_Final-02-19x24.jpg 19w, https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2026\/06\/Gael-Force_Final-02-29x36.jpg 29w, https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2026\/06\/Gael-Force_Final-02-38x48.jpg 38w, https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2026\/06\/Gael-Force_Final-02-600x750.jpg 600w, https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2026\/06\/Gael-Force_Final-02.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Forces of nature from across Scotland\u2019s Gaelic and traditional music world are set to gather in Glasgow for a one-off spectacular night as part of the&nbsp;<strong>Royal National M\u00f2d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Forming the finale of Scotland\u2019s premier festival of Gaelic language, music and culture,<strong>&nbsp;Gael Force 10&nbsp;<\/strong>will take over the Barrowland Ballroom on&nbsp;<strong>Friday 16 October 2026<\/strong>, with tickets on&nbsp;sale now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A line up brimming with the good and great of the Gaeldom will create the ultimate west coast c\u00e8ilidh and perfectly round off nine days of events for the world\u2019s biggest celebration of Scottish Gaelic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bonafide Scottish legends including Capercaille\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>Donald Shaw<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Karen Matheson<\/strong>, Tide Lines\u2019&nbsp;<strong>Robert Robertson<\/strong>, Skipinnish\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>Angus MacPhail, Andrew Stevenson<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Archie McAllister<\/strong>, Skerryvore\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>Daniel and Martin Gillespie<\/strong>, Trail West\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>Ian Smith&nbsp;<\/strong>and M\u00e0nran\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>Kim Carnie&nbsp;<\/strong>and<strong>&nbsp;Ewen Henderson<\/strong>&nbsp;are among those taking to the iconic stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Double M\u00f2d gold medallist and fan favourite&nbsp;<strong>Ruairidh Gray<\/strong>&nbsp;is also set to perform, alongside acclaimed fiddle player&nbsp;<strong>Marie Fielding<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The unique night was commissioned by the Local Organising Committee of M\u00f2d Ghlaschu and is being brought together with the help of musician, broadcaster and event organiser&nbsp;<strong>Gary Innes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event will also welcome one of the Scottish traditional music scene\u2019s most popular and highly respected musicians,&nbsp;<strong>John \u2018Iky\u2019 Carmichael<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From Oban to Tiree and from Assynt to Mull, the Highlands and Islands will be represented in force at the bespoke Barrowlands show, with accordionist and Scottish Dance Band legend&nbsp;<strong>Jennifer Cruickshank,&nbsp;<\/strong>pianist&nbsp;<strong>Rory Matheson<\/strong>, drummer&nbsp;<strong>Fraser MacInnes<\/strong>, and many more, also performing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Gael Force 10 programmer, broadcaster and musician Gary Innes said:&nbsp;<\/strong>\u201cThis is a line up like no other! The weather can be tricky to predict in Scotland but this October there is a 100% chance of Gaels in Glasgow. I couldn\u2019t think of a better way to bring the Royal National M\u00f2d to a close than uniting so many forces of nature from the west coast music scene, and wider Highland and Island communities, for this one-off c\u00e8ilidh. I couldn\u2019t be more excited to see it all come together.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>D-I Brown,&nbsp;Convenor of the&nbsp;Local Organising Committee for the Royal National M\u00f2d 2026 in Glasgow, said<\/strong>: \u201cGlasgow is known as Baile M\u00f2r nan G\u00e0idheal: City of the Gaels. The city has long attracted Highland and Island populations and boasts the biggest concentrated community of Gaelic learners and speakers outside of the Western Isles. Combining this rich Gaelic heritage with Glasgow\u2019s unmatched reputation for live music and the best audiences in the world, this year\u2019s Royal National M\u00f2d is certainly going to make its mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Local Organising Committee is delighted to be able to bring Gael Force 10 to Barrowlands \u2013 it will be the c\u00e8ilidh to end all c\u00e8ilidhs and bring the festival to a fantastic conclusion. We welcome anyone with an interest in Scotland\u2019s language, music and culture to experience the spirit of the M\u00f2d for themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Gael Force 10<\/strong>&nbsp;is one of a host of signature fringe events planned for the Royal National M\u00f2d, taking place from&nbsp;<strong>Friday 9 \u2013 Saturday 17 October,<\/strong>&nbsp;with a full programme of concerts, sessions and workshops to be revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These events sit alongside more than 200 competitions spanning solo singing, choirs, bands, instruments, art, sport and more, which together make up one of Scotland\u2019s most significant cultural events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last year\u2019s National M\u00f2d in Lochaber saw more than 9,400 attendances across its nine days and generated \u00a33.9 million to the local economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Gael Force 10&nbsp;<\/strong>will be staged at the&nbsp;<strong>Barrowland Ballroom<\/strong>&nbsp;on the final day of the Royal National M\u00f2d,&nbsp;<strong>Friday 16 October<\/strong>.
