Coda Music<\/a><\/strong> are the seventh recipients of Hands Up for Trad\u2019s Business Limelight Award. The \u201cLimelight\u2019s\u201d are a monthly initiative (launched in October 2012) that recognises the outstanding contributions made by businesses and organisations who contribute, shape and influence the arts and cultural sector in Scotland today. Coda Music have been spending time with their customers since 1997 selling Scottish music. They\u2019ve have a great service, a brilliant website and loads of loyal customers.<\/p>\n

We asked Rose Norton of Coda Music the following questions.<\/p>\n

What is your principle company activity?<\/strong>
\nMusic retailing.<\/p>\n

When and where did the company first start trading?<\/strong>
\n1997 at 12 Bank St, Edinburgh.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>What made you want to work in Scottish culture?<\/strong>
\nBy providing a dedicated shop for Folk music we hope to offer a much wider selection of Scottish music to visitors than was previously available. We have the time to spend with customers who are looking for a real souvenir from their time spent in Scotland. We hope they will be listening for years to come.<\/p>\n

Can you tell us of any particular company highlights?<\/strong>
\nHighlights? Hmm, the fact that we\u2019re still here is a highlight for us! We started a distribution service for local artists in 2009 which we\u2019re hoping to expand. We opened The Vinyl Room<\/a><\/em> on April 20th 2013. It\u2019s an exciting time.<\/p>\n

What are your company\u2019s plans for the future?<\/strong>
\nWe\u2019d like to see Coda as a hub for Scottish music with maybe more\u00a0instore gigs. We\u2019d also like to expand the Vinyl side of our business and help artists further with distribution.<\/p>\n

How will you celebrate receiving Hands Up for Trad\u2019s Business\u00a0Limelight award?<\/strong>
\nWe\u2019ll be heading to The Jolly Judge!<\/p>\n
