Gaelic for \u201cPaisley Festival\u201d, F\u00e8is Ph\u00e0islig was established in 2015 and delivered its first ever \u2018F\u00e8is Week\u2019 \u2014 an intensive course of come-and-try workshops that saw over 60 children take part in instrumental tuition, singing, and drama with some of Scotland\u2019s leading traditional musicians. Since then, we\u2019ve grown to offer a year-round programme of events, reaching over 14,000 young people in 2024.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

F\u00e8is Ph\u00e0islig, Renfrewshire\u2019s celebrated traditional music and Gaelic arts charity, has announced details of a major anniversary concert to mark ten years of providing cultural opportunities for young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The showcase event will take place at the iconic Paisley Town Hall on Saturday 7th February 2026, bringing together over 100 performers from the organisation’s past and present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since its launch in 2015, F\u00e8is Ph\u00e0islig (\/fe\u02d0\u0283 fa\u02d0\u0283l\u026ag\u02b2\/, pronounced faysh fash-lick) has grown from a single summer event into one of Scotland\u2019s largest F\u00e8is programmes, providing professional and accessible tuition in traditional music and song for young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now reaching over 15,000 participants annually, the organisation will celebrate its incredible journey by uniting current young learners, accomplished alumni, the group\u2019s Gaelic choir, local pipe bands, and some of Scotland\u2019s leading traditional musicians on one stage for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evening promises a vibrant variety showcase of music and song that reflects a decade of community and cultural pride and will operate on an inclusive \u2018pay what you can\u2019 ticket model, to ensure the concert is open to all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The line-up includes core F\u00e8is tutors, who have established musical careers, including F\u00e8is Ph\u00e0islig director and accordion player Grant McFarlane<\/strong>, guitarist Ron Jappy<\/strong>, Gaelic singer and fiddle player Chlo\u00eb Bryce <\/strong>and mandolin player Calum McIlroy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hosted by acclaimed Gaelic singer and broadcaster Joy Dunlop<\/strong>, the concert will also feature special guest musicians including vocalist Josie Duncan <\/strong>and M\u00e0nran\u2019s Gary Innes<\/strong> and Ewen Henderson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event, which is supported by The National Lottery through Creative Scotland, will also premiere a newly commissioned Gaelic song created to look towards the organisation’s future, with further details on this to be announced in the coming months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grant McFarlane, Director of F\u00e8is Ph\u00e0islig<\/strong>, who has headed up the organisation since its inception, said: <\/strong>\u201cThis concert will be a true celebration of the community that has built F\u00e8is Ph\u00e0islig over the last decade and of Renfrewshire\u2019s flourishing creativity. We are incredibly proud to bring together learners who are just starting their musical journeys with the professional artists who inspire them, many of whom are our former participants. We would like to extend an invitation to the whole community to join us for what will be an inspiring night, full of energy, that reflects and honours our achievements and journey so far and looks ahead to the next ten years of championing culture in Renfrewshire.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anna MacQuarrie<\/strong>, Gaelic Arts Officer at Creative Scotland said:<\/strong> \u201cIn the ten years since it was founded, F\u00e8is Ph\u00e0islig has firmly rooted Gaelic and traditional music in the communities of Renfrewshire. Their anniversary celebration, with support from The National Lottery, is a culmination of their achievements and everyone who has engaged with the valuable opportunities they offer. The concert will demonstrate the range of talent and creativity nurtured by the F\u00e8is, inspiring audiences of all ages and backgrounds to experience and participate in traditional Gaelic arts, continuing their mission for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
