\"IMG_3649\"<\/a>Hands Up for Trad announced the\u00a0David Roberts Memorial Plate<\/a>\u00a0in memory of David Roberts, an early supporter of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award. The Award celebrates young traditional musicians in the Lanarkshire area who are doing really well and making a name for themselves. In 2014 we are very happy to present this award to Adam Gibb of\u00a0Biggar.<\/p>\n

Adam\u00a0started playing at the accordion at the age of 8 under the wing of Keith Dickson<\/a>. He\u00a0always wanted to play the accordion after following his\u00a0older brother around to various competitions and events. As well as accordion Adam\u00a0started playing the piano at the age of 11 so he\u00a0would be able to accompany\u00a0other people and have more opportunities\u00a0to perform!<\/p>\n

Highlights in his\u00a0career include playing at T in the Park twice as part of KODA<\/a>, an accordion orchestra lead by Keith Dickson, and various sucessful trips to competitions across Scotland and England including perth and Blackpool and meeting new people at these events. In the future he\u00a0hopes to continue to do well at these competitions, and also to play more gigs and different venues!<\/p>\n
