Celebrated Scottish folk trailblazers M\u00e0nran <\/strong>are back with a bold new single, \u2018Something that I Said\u2019<\/strong> which is set for release on Friday 16th<\/sup> May 2025<\/strong>. Marking a distinct departure from the band\u2019s signature sound, the track ventures into darker, pop-inflected territory while retaining the lyrical power and instrumental virtuosity that has made them one of Scotland\u2019s most respected traditional acts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Written by band members Kim Carnie<\/strong> and Aidan Moodie<\/strong>, \u2018Something that I Said\u2019 explores the emotional chaos of a relationship bound to fail \u2014 and the irresistible pull to see it through anyway. The biting lyrics are underscored by an electrifying arrangement that showcases M\u00e0nran\u2019s fearless approach to musical evolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vocalist Kim Carnie said:<\/strong> \u201cPulling this song together was some of the most fun we\u2019ve had. The song\u2019s energy called for something darker \u2013 and that gave us the freedom to play and push outside our usual sound.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Featuring performances from Kim Carnie<\/strong> (vocals), Aidan Moodie<\/strong> (guitars\/vocals), Mark Scobbie <\/strong>(drums), Ewen Henderson<\/strong> (fiddle), Gary Innes<\/strong> (accordion), Ryan Murphy<\/strong> (flute), and Marcus Corduck<\/strong> (bass), the track was recorded at Buzzkiller Studio<\/strong> with Ross Hamilton<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The release comes as the band gears up to celebrate 15 years at the forefront of the Scottish music scene this summer, a milestone that underlines not only the band\u2019s influence and adaptability but also its continued relevance in an ever-evolving musical landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a growing global following, award-winning albums, and sold-out shows across more than 30 countries, M\u00e0nran remains a powerhouse of tradition and innovation. Their last two singles were playlisted by BBC Radio 2, and \u2018Something that I Said\u2019 builds on that momentum with a fresh, genre-defying sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
