Castle Concerts <\/strong>is delighted to announce that Scotland’s celebrated Celtic rock  band Skipinnish<\/strong> <\/strong>will play at Edinburgh Castle next summer to celebrate their 25th<\/sup>anniversary. This promises to be a very special evening and surely a career highlight.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skipinnish co-Founder, Angus MacPhail <\/strong>said, \u201cSince Skipinnish started in 1999, we have never been so excited about a gig.  Little did we think back then when we were students playing tunes around the pubs and village halls, that we would be marking our 25th<\/sup> year with a concert at Edinburgh Castle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the biggest announcement we have ever made and we are so grateful to our fans who have supported us throughout our voyage and given us this chance to perform in a setting beyond the wildest dreams of the two young lads we were in 1999. Of everything I\u2019m looking forward to about this event, by far the most powerful, is the sound of a Skipinnish crowd in full voice resonating around the castle and down the Royal Mile.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark Mackie, Director of Castle Concerts<\/strong> said today, \u201cWe are thrilled that Skipinnish has chosen to come and celebrate their birthday with us up at the castle next year for what will be a truly amazing event.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a far cry from January 1999 two recently acquainted college friends sat down and had a tune together.  One tune led to another, one gig led to another and a musical powerhouse was born.  In the years since then, founder members, Angus MacPhail from the Isle of Tiree, and Andrew Stevenson from Achnacarry in Lochaber, have taken Skipinnish from a duo, playing pubs, ceilidhs and weddings, to a 7 piece force of Scottish music and song touring the UK and Europe and filling venues at home, while riding on an ever growing wave of popularity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meteoric rise of Skipinnish as a band has seen them reach the very top of the Celtic Music scene.  With sell-out shows across the country\u2019s biggest music venues attracting audiences bigger than they could ever have imagined and their chart-topping anthems, including Alive,<\/em> The Island<\/em>, Last of the Hunters<\/em> and Walking on the Waves<\/em> resonating across the globe, what started as a small ceilidh band has evolved and grown to something huge and unique. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
