F\u00e8is Ph\u00e0islig is thrilled to announce the winner of the competition to compose the official soundtrack for this year’s Royal National M\u00f2d. From a competitive field of entries, a distinguished panel of judges, including renowned Scottish traditional musicians Alistair Paterson, Jenna Reid, and Scott Wood, has selected ‘F\u00e0ilte gu P\u00e0islig<\/strong>‘ (Welcome to Paisley) by Alan Murray<\/strong> as the winning composition.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘F\u00e0ilte gu P\u00e0islig’ serves as a warm welcome to Paisley and Renfrewshire, paying tribute to the ever-growing Gaelic arts and traditional music scene here. This lively jig captures the spirit and excitement surrounding the upcoming Royal National M\u00f2d, ten years since it last visited the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

James Graham, Chief Executive of An Comunn G\u00e0idhealach, the organising body behind the Royal National M\u00f2d, praised the selection, stating, “Alan Murray’s ‘F\u00e0ilte gu P\u00e0islig’ is a fitting musical representation of this year’s M\u00f2d in Paisley. It sets the perfect tone for what promises to be a remarkable event.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alan Murray, the accomplished fiddle player and composer, expressed his gratitude, saying, “It\u2019s a real honour that ‘F\u00e0ilte gu P\u00e0islig’ has been chosen as the official soundtrack for M\u00f2d Ph\u00e0islig this year. I look forward to being there and sharing the music with everyone.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

F\u00e8is Ph\u00e0islig facilitated the competition as part of its mission to promote traditional music and Gaelic culture within Renfrewshire. The competition was sponsored by Love Local, Love Paisley with Chair of Paisley First, Elaine Templeton, stating; “Love Paisley is proud to support F\u00e8is Ph\u00e0islig in fostering Paisley’s cultural scene. We congratulate Alan Murray on his brilliant composition which reflects the warm welcome waiting for everyone here in Paisley.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The track will be performed throughout the week of the M\u00f2d, including at \u2018Ar C\u00e0nan \u2018s Ar Ce\u00f2l\u2019 (Our Language, Our Music) on Saturday 14th<\/sup> and at \u2018C\u00e8ilidh F\u00e0ilteachais\u2019 (Welcome C\u00e8ilidh) on Thursday 19th<\/sup>.
