The October break will see thousands of people of all ages enjoy all that the world\u2019s premier Gaelic festival has to offer, including late-night pub sessions, concerts from esteemed musicians and competitions featuring singers and musicians of all ages. We expect there to be a real buzz around Paisley for this year\u2019s event and with a newly refurbished Town Hall and such a warm and welcoming audience, the Renfrewshire town is the perfect place to bring the event this year. The Gaelic language continues to flourish and we would encourage people to embrace this year\u2019s event and get involved in the many cultural goings on we have lined up across the nine days.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Renfrewshire Provost, Lorraine Cameron, said:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cThe final countdown to The Royal National M\u00f2d is here and I\u2019m looking forward to welcoming locals, visitors and performers to the town to celebrate and experience the very best in Gaelic music and culture. The event will surely bring a great buzz and sense of excitement to the town centre and our venues and local businesses are ready to help make sure this is the best M\u00f2d yet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ealasaid MacDonald, B\u00f2rd na G\u00e0idhlig Ceannard (CEO), said:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cB\u00f2rd na G\u00e0idhlig is delighted to support the Royal National M\u00f2d as it returns to Paisley. Those who attended 10 years ago will have fond memories of a wonderful celebration of Gaelic that increased support and enthusiasm across the area. We are sure that this year will be no different, and we will see the impact of the M\u00f2d on Gaelic development as competitors, participants and audiences gather in Renfrewshire to enjoy a week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is something for everyone on the M\u00f2d programme. MG ALBA Scots Trad Awards Folk Band of the Year Breabach will headline the\u00a0<strong>M\u00f2d 2023 Opening Concert<\/strong>\u00a0at Paisley Town Hall, while young and local talent will be front and centre for\u00a0<strong>Ar C\u00e0nan \u2018s Ar Ce\u00f2l<\/strong>\u00a0(<strong>Our Language Our Music<\/strong>) on Saturday 14th October.\u00a0<strong>F\u00e8is Ph\u00e0islig<\/strong>\u00a0musicians, the\u00a0<strong>Renfrewshire Schools Pipe Band<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>The Glasgow Gaelic Choir<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ainsley Hamill<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Joy Dunlop<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kilbarchan Pipe Band<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jenna Reid and Harris Playfair<\/strong>\u00a0will all make an appearance on the show\u2019s fantastic bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A specially created show launching the reworked Gaelic song collection of\u00a0<strong>Frances Tolmie: Gun Sireadh Gun Iarraidh<\/strong>, will also take place at Paisley Town Hall on Tuesday 17th October. Elsewhere on the programme is a\u00a0<strong>Gaelic Nature Walk<\/strong>\u00a0at Paisley\u2019s Fountain Gardens led by\u00a0<strong>Alasdair Whyte,<\/strong>\u00a0a workshop and performance from Gaelic speaker and traditional musician\u00a0<strong>Evie Waddell<\/strong>\u00a0for\u00a0<strong>F\u00e0ilte Gu British Sign Language (BSL)<\/strong>\u00a0(<strong>Welcome to BSL<\/strong>) and a warm multi-cultural ceilidh for communities from all cultures called the\u00a0<strong>F\u00e0ilte C\u00e8ilidh<\/strong>\u00a0at The Tannahill Centre on Thursday 19th October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The M\u00f2d\u2019s prestigious competition schedule will see the usual array of talent vying for the most coveted titles in Gaeldom. The\u00a0<strong>Gold Medal<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Traditional Gold Medal Final<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Silver Pendant competitions<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>choirs competitions<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Drama Final and Battle of the Bands<\/strong>\u00a0will all take place throughout the week, alongside children\u2019s and music competitions, which will all welcome competitors from across Scotland and the wider world to Paisley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A fitting finale to the Paisley M\u00f2d will come in the form of the much-loved\u00a0<strong>Massed Choirs<\/strong>.
