Summertime celebration of Scottish music to come to Rouken Glen Park this June"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"http:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2023\/02\/Peatbog-Fairies-Live-shot-22.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"395\" src=\"http:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2023\/02\/Peatbog-Fairies-Live-shot-22.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18707\" srcset=\"https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2023\/02\/Peatbog-Fairies-Live-shot-22.jpg 700w, https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2023\/02\/Peatbog-Fairies-Live-shot-22-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2023\/02\/Peatbog-Fairies-Live-shot-22-24x14.jpg 24w, https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2023\/02\/Peatbog-Fairies-Live-shot-22-36x20.jpg 36w, https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2023\/02\/Peatbog-Fairies-Live-shot-22-48x27.jpg 48w, https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2023\/02\/Peatbog-Fairies-Live-shot-22-600x339.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The prayers of Glasgow audiences with an appetite for Scottish music have been answered, with the launch of a major new summertime festival in the city,\u00a0<strong>The Reeling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rouken Glen Park will burst to life with traditional Scottish and roots music from some of the country\u2019s most exciting artists on&nbsp;<strong>Saturday 10th<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Sunday 11th June 2023<\/strong>, for what will be the biggest single weekend of traditional music in the Central Belt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Reeling<\/strong>&nbsp;is the brainchild of Glasgow-based music promoter&nbsp;<strong>Michael Pellegrott<\/strong>i, who is one of the co-directors behind the incredibly successful Skye Live Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This new 5,000-capacity festival in Glasgow\u2019s south side, which will be a celebration of Scottish culture, creativity and community, has made a strong commitment to deliver a first-class, professionally-run visitor experience for audiences from the get go, as well as putting a laser focus on sustainability, championing a fair working environment for event staff, and committing to a gender-balanced line up from its first year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the word \u2018reeling\u2019 derived from much-loved Scottish dances and tunes, the aptly named festival is guaranteed to be an almighty knees-up, both on and off the stage, thanks to the likes of Scottish favourites<strong>Skerryvore<\/strong>, who will close the festival on Sunday night, and inimitable party starters&nbsp;<strong>Peatbog Fairies<\/strong>,&nbsp;who will close&nbsp;<strong>The Reeling<\/strong>&nbsp;on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The opening day also sees a raft of thriving Scottish talent grace the outdoor stage including Folk Band of the Year&nbsp;<strong>Breabach<\/strong>, Gaelic supergroup&nbsp;<strong>D\u00e0imh<\/strong>, trad four-piece&nbsp;<strong>Fras<\/strong>, highly sought-after folk act&nbsp;<strong>RURA<\/strong>, Gaelic vocal harmony trio&nbsp;<strong>Sian<\/strong>, the groundbreaking and genre-defying trio&nbsp;<strong>Talisk<\/strong>&nbsp;and electro-trad duo<strong>Valtos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Sunday&nbsp;<strong>Skerryvore<\/strong>&nbsp;will be joined by a cast of much-loved acts in the form of Scotland\u2019s most celebrated fiddle band&nbsp;<strong>Blazin&#8217; Fiddles<\/strong>, Hebrides powerhouse&nbsp;<strong>Eabhal<\/strong>, Stornoway electro-Celtic band&nbsp;<strong>Face The West<\/strong>, energetic trad act&nbsp;<strong>Heron Valley<\/strong>, festival favourites&nbsp;<strong>H\u00f2-R\u00f2<\/strong>, Scots singer&nbsp;<strong>Iona Fyfe<\/strong>&nbsp;and beloved folk singer<strong>Siobhan Miller<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As well as a performance-packed outdoor main stage, the tree-lined Rouken Glen Park site will be home to some unique dining experiences and other activities that will make&nbsp;<strong>The Reeling<\/strong>&nbsp;a truly memorable summer day out for music fans of all ages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Reeling Festival Director Michael Pellegrotti said<\/strong>: \u201cDespite being home to so many fantastic roots musicians, Glasgow has been longing for a summertime celebration of Scottish traditional and folk music. We believe it\u2019s time to change that \u2013 The Reeling is just the event that the city has been crying out for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur aim with The Reeling is to foster a feeling of community and creativity in everything we do. We want to create a unique wee escape in the heart of Glasgow and deliver an event that allows everyone to get together, have a great time outdoors in the summer and soak up music from some of our favourite Scottish artists. It\u2019s also incredibly important to us that we support Scotland\u2019s indigenous languages with a strong presence of Scots and Gaelic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m proud to have an incredibly talented and experienced team behind the scenes who will help make this the very best festival to attend.
