{"id":14560,"date":"2021-09-30T12:01:16","date_gmt":"2021-09-30T11:01:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/?p=14560"},"modified":"2021-09-29T12:23:46","modified_gmt":"2021-09-29T11:23:46","slug":"outdoor-choir-performance-to-round-off-inverness-royal-national-mod-2021-in-style","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/outdoor-choir-performance-to-round-off-inverness-royal-national-mod-2021-in-style\/","title":{"rendered":"Outdoor choir performance to round off Inverness\u2019\u00a0Royal National M\u00f2d 2021 in style"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><b><i><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-14561\" src=\"http:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2021\/09\/Mod.-Glasgow.-Saturday-19th-October.-2019-06-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2021\/09\/Mod.-Glasgow.-Saturday-19th-October.-2019-06-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2021\/09\/Mod.-Glasgow.-Saturday-19th-October.-2019-06-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2021\/09\/Mod.-Glasgow.-Saturday-19th-October.-2019-06.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Special outdoor event will see choirs from across Scotland performing at Northern Meeting Park<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Choirs from across Scotland will join together in song once again for an uplifting <b>Massed Choirs<\/b>&nbsp;performance in Inverness\u2019 Northern Meeting Park on&nbsp;<b>Saturday 16 October at 10.30am<\/b>, bringing the<b>&nbsp;Royal National M\u00f2d 2021<\/b> to an inspirational close.<\/p>\n<p>The outdoor event, which has been added to the thrilling programme of events, will see choirs from up and down the country, from Inverness to Edinburgh and Oban to Islay, take part in the amazing collaborative concert.<\/p>\n<p>The performance, which is free and open to all, will take place at the end of the eight-day festival, organised by&nbsp;<b>An Comunn G\u00e0idhealach<\/b> and famed for its celebration of Gaelic language and cultural heritage.<\/p>\n<p>Thirty years on from the very first M\u00f2d Massed Choirs event in Dingwall, attendees will gather at the beloved Inverness park and historic Highland Games venue to enjoy impressive performances from members of the various choirs who will have performed during the week, as well as a display from&nbsp;<b>City of Inverness<\/b><\/span><b><\/b><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Pipe Band.<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><\/p>\n<p><b>James Graham, Chief Executive Officer of An Comunn G\u00e0idhealach,<\/b>&nbsp;said: \u201cWe can\u2019t wait to put Gaelic culture in the spotlight again with this year\u2019s&nbsp;<b>Royal National M\u00f2d<\/b>. The hybrid approach of in-person and online events means that there is something for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to include the addition of an outdoor Massed Choirs performance to this year\u2019s programme and close the event in a traditional and poignant style. It is always a joy to witness and will be extra special this year for those performing &#8211; the perfect event to finish off an incredible week. We would encourage everyone who can make it to come down and join us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Chair of The Highland Council\u2019s Gaelic Committee, Cllr Calum Munro<\/b> said: \u201cThe Massed Choirs on the final Saturday morning has become the traditional finale to the Royal National Mod. It\u2019s a spectacular end to the week\u2019s events and is always both a moving and uplifting experience. Hopefully we have a stunning Autumn morning in which to enjoy the event and that all participants and spectators can begin their journey home reflecting on a fantastic Royal National Mod in Inverness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Shona MacLennan, Ceannard, B\u00f2rd na G\u00e0idhlig,<\/b> said: \u201cWe are delighted that the Massed Choirs are returning. Over lockdown, we have recognised the huge positive impact Gaelic events and language learning have had on many people\u2019s sense of wellbeing and connectedness in online communities. This event will bring people together again, in person and online, and promote Gaelic through the <b>Royal National M\u00f2d<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Jackie Cotter, Chair of the Gaelic Choirs\u2019 Association,&nbsp;<\/b>said: \u201cAll of the groups involved in the Massed Choirs event are really looking forward to performing in Northern Meeting Park this October. It will be a really special performance to round off the incredible festival, especially as many of the choirs have not performed for an audience for a very long time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp;<b>Royal National M\u00f2d&nbsp;2021&nbsp;<\/b>will take place from&nbsp;Friday 8th &#8211; 16th October 2021. A hybrid approach will see a combination of in-person concerts and competitions at the host venue of Eden Court Theatre, as well as a dynamic schedule of online performances to be broadcast throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p>A number of COVID safety measures will be in place for this year\u2019s M\u00f2d in line with government guidelines to keep audiences and performers safe, including extensive cleaning and ongoing COVID safety checks, enhanced hygiene measures, use of face masks and track and trace check ins.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights of the celebration will include the major competitions&nbsp;<b>An Comunn<\/b> <b>G\u00e0idhealach<\/b>&nbsp;<b>Gold Medal<\/b>&nbsp;final and the&nbsp;<b>Traditional Gold Medal<\/b>. There will also be unmissable performances from \u201cthe new sound of a traditional Scotland\u201d <b>Duncan<\/b> <b>Chisholm<\/b>, Fiddler&nbsp;<b>Lauren MacColl<\/b>,&nbsp;new outfit<b>&nbsp;Staran<\/b>, the famous&nbsp;<b>Glenfinnan Ceilidh<\/b> <b>Band<\/b>, the legendary Gaelic singer&nbsp;<b>Margaret Stewart&nbsp;<\/b>and many more.<\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp;prestigious festival, which was founded in 1891,&nbsp;is supported by&nbsp;<b>B\u00f2rd na G\u00e0idhlig<\/b>,&nbsp;<b>The Highland Council<\/b>,&nbsp;<b>EventScotland<\/b>,&nbsp;<b>The Scottish Government<\/b>,&nbsp;<b>HIE<\/b>,&nbsp;<b>Caledonian MacBrayne<\/b>,&nbsp;<b>The Inverness Common Good Fund&nbsp;<\/b>and&nbsp;<b>SQA<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>The full programme for this year\u2019s&nbsp;<b>Royal National M\u00f2d<\/b>&nbsp;can be viewed at&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ancomunn.co.uk\/\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;\">www.ancomunn.co.uk<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #333333;\">.
