{"id":13516,"date":"2019-09-24T08:33:27","date_gmt":"2019-09-24T07:33:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/?p=13516"},"modified":"2019-09-24T08:33:28","modified_gmt":"2019-09-24T07:33:28","slug":"belhaven-celebrates-300-years-with-spectacular-sell-out-brewery-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/belhaven-celebrates-300-years-with-spectacular-sell-out-brewery-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Belhaven celebrates 300 years with spectacular sell out brewery festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/files\/2019\/09\/img_1072.jpg\" class=\"alignright size-medium\" width=\"270\" height=\"180\">Belhaven Brewery has celebrated 300 years of brewing beautiful beers in style this weekend, hosting the<strong> \u2018Belhaven 300th Birthday Bash\u2019<\/strong> at its brewery in Dunbar.<\/p>\n<p>The festival, coupling the very best in Scottish music and beer, was a sell out with thousands of revellers enjoying the festivities on Saturday, 21st September.<\/p>\n<p>The event line-up reflected Belhaven\u2019s 300-year-old history and its distinctly modern outlook, with the very best in Scottish traditional music acts and top talent from the folk scene over the last three decades taking to the stage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assynt<\/strong>, who were crowned Up and Coming Artist of the Year at the BBC Scotland Trad Music Awards 2018, opened the stage, getting the crowds warmed up before <strong>Kinnaris Quintet<\/strong> performed their dynamic and compelling live set.<\/p>\n<p>Winners of Belhaven\u2019s annual bursary for innovation in Scottish music, <strong>Elephant Sessions<\/strong> and <strong>Talisk<\/strong>, also entertained festival go-ers with high energy sets. The audience was also treated to lively performances from multi award-winning Scottish contemporary folk band <strong>Breabach<\/strong>, Highland outfit <strong>Tide Lines<\/strong> and the one and only <strong>Dougie MacLean<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The sell-out party ended with an unforgettable set from Scottish stalwarts <strong>Capercaillie<\/strong>, before <strong>Niteworks<\/strong>, renowned for their fusion of electronica and folk music, brought the celebrations to an electrifying close.<\/p>\n<p>Revellers enjoyed fantastic food and Belhaven Brewery\u2019s award winning beers from tap bars around the brewery grounds including 1719, a specially brewed birthday celebration pale ale, Twisted Grapefruit IPA, 2018 Scottish Beer of the Year, gold-medal winner Twisted Thistle IPA and of course Scotland\u2019s favourite ale, Belhaven Best.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, families enjoyed treasure trail activities and football and rugby sessions in the grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Gordon Muir, Belhaven Brewery\u2019s marketing controller and festival organiser said: \u201cBelhaven\u2019s 300th Birthday Bash was the ultimate party and it was fantastic to have thousands of our loyal customers and fans along to the brewery to celebrate with us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not every year you get to mark such a momentous milestone and combining Belhaven\u2019s two loves, beer and Scottish music, was the perfect recipe for success with sell-out crowds enjoying the festival.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a joy to have some of the most in-demand traditional artists playing in the unique setting of our Dunbar brewery and to welcome so many families along to enjoy our music masterclasses, storytelling and sport sessions.
