The band comprises Gaelic singer\/songwriter and twice-nominated Hands Up for Trad Gaelic Singer of the Year Alasdair C. Whyte (Isle of Mull) and electronic composer, sound artist, arranger and Scottish Album of the Year-longlisted Ross Whyte (Aberdeenshire). The band released its debut album \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/whytetheband.bandcamp.com\/album\/fairich\">Fairich<\/a>\u2019 to critical acclaim in 2016 with their original Gaelic song \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=6uhvb1WAcyM\">Cionran<\/a>\u2019 receiving the 2017 Hands Up for Trad\/Creative Scotland N\u00f2s \u00d9r Songwriting Award.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u2018Tairm\u2019 (a Gaelic word meaning \u2018echo\u2019 or a \u2018gathering summons\u2019) takes its inspiration from the concept of an endling (the last known individual of a species.
