The Second Aberdeen &#8220;FluteFling&#8221; [ plus whistles ! ]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a successful event last year, and a very successful &#8220;twin&#8221; event in Edinburgh earlier this year, the date of the 2nd Aberdeen &#8220;FluteFling&#8221; is the weekend surrounding Sat.17th November 2018.<\/p>\n<p>There will be one major difference this year in that &#8211; as we did in Edinburgh &#8211; we will be inviting whistle players [&#8220;soprano&#8221; and &#8220;low&#8221;] to join with the flute players for classes and sessions.<\/p>\n<p>The programme for the weekend will be similar to last year :<\/p>\n<p>Friday evening [ 16th ] &#8211; &#8220;welcome session&#8221; &#8211; very informal.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday 17th &#8211; we will divide students into 3 classes &#8211; 2 flute [ &#8220;beginner&#8221; and &#8220;intermediate&#8221; ] and 1 class for both types of whistle.<\/p>\n<p>The 3 classes will receive tuition from all 3 of our tutors over the course of the day.<\/p>\n<p>The tutors this year will be Gordon Turnbull [ &#8220;simple-system&#8221; flute ] and Sharon Creasey [ &#8220;Boehm-system&#8221; ], and we are especially pleased to have obtained the services of Dougie Pincock as guest tutor \/ speaker.<\/p>\n<p>Dougie\u2019s main instrument is the Highland bagpipes, but he is an excellent player of flute and whistle, and for 7 years was a member of the &#8220;Battlefield Band&#8221;.
