Highland Young Musicians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.highland-young-musicians.com\">HIGHLAND YOUNG MUSICIANS<\/a> groups are the north of Scotlands PREMIER youth music activities, promoting excellence and access through supported music activities.\u00a0 They lie at the top of the &#8216;pyramid&#8217; of progressive activities run by High Life Highland music staff &#8211; but are not restricted to those who get lessons through HLH Instrumental Service &#8211; anyone of the appropriate standards can apply for membership.<\/p>\n<p>SO&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>MEMBERSHIP &amp; APPLICATION INFORMATION<\/p>\n<p>2018\/19<\/p>\n<p>Online applications need to be submitted by midnight 19th August 2018.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.highlifehighland.com\/hym2018\">https:\/\/www.highlifehighland.com\/hym2018<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Membership for all groups is\u00a0decided after the annual Workshops Day \u2013 Saturday 26th August 2018- held in Inverness at Millburn Academy. Registration from 9.30am &amp; workshops from 10am \u2013 4.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>HYM\u00a0musicians come from all over Highland and the groups are an ideal opportunity\u00a0for members\u00a0to make friends beyond their local areas whilst enabling musical experiences of the highest standards.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018\/19 all groups will rehearse in Inverness on:<\/p>\n<p>6 Oct\u00a0&amp; 17 Nov 2018\u00a0then\u00a02 Feb &amp; 2 Mar 2019 (all 10.30am-5.15pm)<\/p>\n<p>with Concerts Festival (Aviemore)\u00a029\/30 Mar 2019\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (including overnight).<\/p>\n<p>Applications are particularly welcome from singers (Highland Youth Choir and C\u00f2isir G) and bass\/guitar\/vocalists for HYBB.<\/p>\n<p>There are places available in:<\/p>\n<p>Highland Regional Youth Orchestra (HRYO)<\/p>\n<p>\u2018snas (ceilidh band)<\/p>\n<p>Highland Schools Wind Band (HSWB)<\/p>\n<p>C\u00f2isir G (Regional Gaelic choir)<\/p>\n<p>Highland Youth String Orchestra (HYSO)<\/p>\n<p>Highland Youth Big Band (HYBB)<\/p>\n<p>Highland Youth Choir (HYC)<\/p>\n<p>Highland Pulse (drumming group)<\/p>\n<p>MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n<p>All players \/ singers should be approaching or above Grade 4 AB\/Trinity standard at the time of application, or should have suitable experience.\u00a0 Applicants who are working towards the appropriate standards and aim to achieve this by September of the application year are more than welcome to audition.<\/p>\n<p>Where there are an excessive amount of applicants for any particular instrument\/group, priority may be given to players who have shown commitment and gained experience in a school or Area group run by Highland Council Music Instructors.\u00a0 This will not be to the detriment of those for whom Highland geography means that such a group can\u2019t be accessed.<\/p>\n<p>REHEARSALS &amp; PERFORMANCES<\/p>\n<p>Highland Young Musicians meet for intensive rehearsal days rather than weekly practices.\u00a0 There are\u00a04 Saturday rehearsals before the Concerts Festival in the Macdonald Aviemore Resort (with all members staying over).\u00a0 All we ask is that members commit to the few dates on the calendar, making the most of the musical and social opportunities to extend experiences and have fun!<\/p>\n<p>MEMBERSHIP COSTS<\/p>\n<p>There are two levels of membership as follows:<\/p>\n<p>SILVER: \u00a3240 \u2013 1x\u00a3240 or 4x\u00a360<\/p>\n<p>This includes\u00a04 x Saturday rehearsals + Concert Festival (with Aviemore Resort b&amp;b accommodation)<\/p>\n<p>BRONZE: \u00a3200 \u2013 1x\u00a3200 or 4x\u00a350<\/p>\n<p>This includes\u00a04 x Saturday rehearsals + Concert Festival (no accommodation) (most appropriate for those from around the Aviemore area)<\/p>\n<p>Successful members from outlying areas are welcome to make their own accommodation arrangements with family\/friends if appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>HYM groups are all about inclusion and applicants should not be put off\u00a0considering membership\u00a0because they think they may not be able to afford the costs.
