Featuring some of the biggest names in contemporary Gaelic music, celebrates the inspirational mentors and teachers who provide encouragement and inspiration for the next generation of performers. Presented in association with An L\u00f2chran.<\/strong><\/p>\n

New Tradition:<\/strong> Iain \u2018Costello\u2019 MacIver and John Murray formed New Tradition 25 years ago, and the band is celebrating the anniversary with the release of its latest album \u2018Hebridean Sky\u2019. Ce\u00f2l \u2019s Craic is delighted to welcome them to perform songs from the new release and favourites from their extensive back catalogue. Iain has been a champion of Gaelic culture and inspired many contemporary musicians through his work as a music teacher on the Isle of Lewis and through his own prolific musical output over the years.<\/p>\n

Mischa Macpherson & Friends:<\/strong> Lewis-born Mischa is a multi-award-winning singer and harpist (Gaelic Singer of the Year \/ MG Alba Trad Music Awards and BBC Radio 2\u2019s Young Folk Award Winner). She is also one of Iain MacIver\u2019s successful ex-pupils. Misha has spoken of the profound effect Iain had on her decision to forge a career in Gaelic traditional music, a decision which has already led to performances in Australia, Canada, Germany, Holland, Scandinavia and Romania, as well as at leading UK folk festivals.<\/p>\n

Pupils of the Glasgow Gaelic School:<\/strong> Especially for this event Ce\u00f2l \u2018s Craic and An L\u00f2chran have commissioned Mischa Macpherson to undertake a series of workshops with a group of aspiring young vocalists from Glasgow\u2019s Gaelic School. Their performance at Ce\u00f2l \u2019s Craic will demonstrate the continuing growth in interest for Gaelic culture and song which is being nurtured at the Gaelic School and passed on to a NEW GENERATION. This project was made possible by the generous support provided by our partners at An L\u00f2chran<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Doors open : 7.30pm<\/strong><\/p>\n
