The winners of the Radio 2 Folk Awards 2018<\/a> have been announced in a ceremony broadcast live on BBC Radio 2 and Radio Ulster, from Belfast’s Waterfront Hall.<\/p>\n

The awards saw a host of musicians come together for an evening of recognition and show-stopping performances.<\/p>\n

The ceremony was presented by Radio 2 Folk Show host Mark Radcliffe and singer Julie Fowlis<\/p>\n

Prizes included Folk Singer of the Year, Best Duo, Best Album, Musician of the Year, and the Young Folk Award.<\/p>\n

Scotland again performed very well. Folk Singer of the Year was awarded to Scottish singer-songwriter and musician, Karine Polwart<\/strong>, a talented artist who is also a theatre maker, storyteller, spoken-word performer and essayist.<\/p>\n

Siobhan Miller<\/strong> won Best Traditional Track with Banks of Newfoundland.<\/p>\n

\u00cdmar<\/strong> won the Horizon Award.<\/p>\n

Best duo was won by Chris Stout and Catriona McKay<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Mohsen Amini<\/strong> won Musician of the Year.<\/p>\n

Also Belfast music legend Van Morrison presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to musician and producer D\u00f3nal Lunny for his contribution to folk music.<\/p>\n

The Good Tradition Award went to the Armagh Pipers Club to recognise their contribution to the preservation, dissemination and progression of traditional music over more than 50 years.<\/p>\n
