Early bird tickets sold out in less than 48 hours in November for the multi award-winning festival.<\/p>\n<p>Brand-new to TMF 2018 will be the <strong>ELEVATE STAGE<\/strong>. This new outdoor stage will showcase the best talent on the Scottish music scene with its line-up focusing on up-and-coming Scottish artists. As well as opportunities for young musicians performing on the stage, the festival has also appointed a Youth Artistic Programmer to take the lead on the programming of this stage.<\/p>\n<p>Thirteen young people applied for the role of <strong>Youth Artistic Programmer<\/strong> at TMF and the organising team were amazed at the high calibre of entries. After much consideration <strong>Jamie MacDonald<\/strong>, who is from the Isle of Tiree and has recently graduated with first class BA Honours Degree in Applied Music, has been confirmed as the successful candidate. \u00a0Jamie has a keen interest in the culture, music and language of the west coast of Scotland and he is passionate about creative arts, especially music and the traditional music scene.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jamie said<\/strong>, \u201cI am so delighted to have been appointed as the Youth Programmer for Tiree Music Festival. As a local to Tiree I have always attended the festival, whether as part of the crowd or playing as part of my own band, so it is a huge honour to be given this opportunity to become part of the organising team. I can\u2019t wait to get started!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ELEVATE STAGE at Tiree Music Festival 2018 is supported by the Year of Young People 2018 event fund, managed by EventScotland and part of VisitScotland\u2019s Events Directorate. During 2018 Scotland will put its young people in the spotlight, celebrating their talents, contributions and creating new opportunities for them to shine. The Year of Young People 2018 is a year-long programme of events and activities that will give young people in Scotland the opportunity to show the world what they are made of.<\/p>\n<p>The first additions to the line-up have also been announced and include BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year winner <strong>Hannah Rarity<\/strong>, MG Alba Scots Trad Awards \u2018Album of the Year\u2019 winners <strong>Elephant Sessions<\/strong>, MG Alba Scots Trad Awards \u2018Up and Coming Artist of the Year\u2019 <strong>H\u00f2-R\u00f2<\/strong> and singer-songwriter <strong>Calum Mackenzie Jones<\/strong> who showcased at last year\u2019s XpoNorth.
