{"id":10643,"date":"2018-01-08T09:20:16","date_gmt":"2018-01-08T09:20:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/?p=10643"},"modified":"2018-01-09T09:23:24","modified_gmt":"2018-01-09T09:23:24","slug":"makerspace-write-a-new-tune-for-new-pipes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/handsupfortrad\/makerspace-write-a-new-tune-for-new-pipes\/","title":{"rendered":"MakerSpace&#8221; &#8211; write a new tune for new pipes!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Tune Writing Competition : deadline 25th January 2018 : \u00a3100 prize!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During January 2018, funds are being raised via <strong>Kickstarter<\/strong>, for the recording of an album titled <strong>&#8220;MakerSpace&#8221;<\/strong>, focused on exploring the very recently developed \u201c<strong>Lindsay System\u201d Scottish smallpipes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The project can be found on Kickstarter by searching for <strong>\u201cMakerspace\u201d<\/strong> or <strong>\u201cDonald WG Lindsay\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The programme for the recording is almost complete,<\/strong> including new works for the pipes from established Scottish composers, alongside the contemporary &amp; traditional tunes that inspired the pipes&#8217; creation. <strong>We&#8217;ve room for a little more music,<\/strong> however, so during the month of January a tune competition will take place, <strong>with a prize of \u00a3100 for the winning tune.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The winning tune will be included on the &#8220;MakerSpace&#8221; album, and the composer invited to the launch, expected to take place in Glasgow in January of 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The music should be <strong>original<\/strong>, and should be <strong>submitted by the composer<\/strong> in the form of a video performance, which can be anonymous if desired (a cunning disguise, the phone laid face down, or whatever), via either Facebook (post on the <strong>Lindstrumentspage<\/strong>) or Twitter\/Instagram to <strong>@lindstruments<\/strong> before midnight on the <strong>25thJanuary 2018<\/strong>. Please include in your post the project Kickstarter link as follows (you can cut &amp; paste this link from Kickstarter) : <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/1831738419\/makerspace-donald-wg-lindsay-and-friends-album?ref=project_build\"><u>www.kickstarter.com\/proje&#8230;_build<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To record the video of your tune, feel free to use any instrument with a suitable range, although bear in mind if using instruments such as piano or guitar, that the pipes will play a single melody line only, so the tune you intend should be as clear as you can make it.
