THE ROLE – An exciting opportunity has arisen to become the new Artistic Director of the Scots Fiddle Festival, Scotland’s largest annual fiddle festival, now in its 25th year. Choosing and organising the artistic content of the festival with the assistance of a capable, friendly, and dedicated committee, and linking with finance, marketing, technical, committee members, as a key part of the overall team.
WHO ARE WE? – We are the Scots Fiddle Festival, a registered charity, run by a board, and small committee of volunteers, based around Edinburgh, having fun and organising an annual fiddle festival.
HOURS – The post is part time, we hold a meeting once a month, plus the festival weekend itself – attendance at these is expected, although we are now moving to having more of the monthly meetings online. Otherwise the work can be done from home. An honorarium of £200 will be paid each month.
YOU – Probably a fiddle player, enthusiastic, organised, pro active, a team player, creative, innovative, pragmatic with a sense of humour. Interested in, and in touch with current, and up and coming artists both at home and abroad. Prepared to push boundaries whilst respecting the tradition, keeping the festival, exciting, evolving and relevant.
WHEN – Starting in August 2020, shadowing our existing Artistic Director up to this year’s festival in November, and taking over after that.
