We asked Binky Blue a few questions.
Tell Us About Yourself
We are a contemporary traditional band from Ayrshire, Scotland, formed of Brother and Sister, Jared and Rianna Muir on Guitar and Fiddle. We try to merge Electronic, Pop, Folk and Traditional music, experimenting with different sounds and effects, generating an exciting and energetic sound. We are influenced by a number of different styles and genres of music. We formed in 2018 and we have played all over Scotland, performing at venues such as Eden Court in Inverness, The Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow as part of the Celtic connections, as well as privet performances for Miss Scotland Candidate Melissa Beatie at Rowallan Castle and Footballer Rose Reilly. We have continued to grow and develop our sound with 2020 seeing our first single titled ‘Seclusion’ along with radio appearances as part of Scotland’s traditional music festival – Celtic Connections. We have also just released our brand new EP ‘Islands’ which demonstrates our more traditional influences and have plans for future projects that combine more of an electronic sound along with our traditional style.
What are your plans for the future?
After Covid we plan to play at festivals such as Eden, Belladrum, Heb Celt and Celtic Connections. We hope that live performances begin to be allowed more and more as this is what we miss most. We also plan on lots more Ceilidhs, Weddings and Community events especially in our local area which normally has many events all year round. After our launch of our first EP in 2020 we have many new tunes and ideas in the works that we are hoping to record in the near future when restrictions aren’t as tight. Rianna has also just been accepted into Plockton Music school where she will be starting her 6th year in September. Rianna is really looking forward to the move and the whole experience of the music school.
Thanks to Creative Scotland for their support in making this happen.
