Like a scene in a play, each character sharing their inner thoughts, Dear Good Jane is a depiction of a stifling Victorian marriage. This emotionally stirring powerhouse of a song is based on the true story of Thomas Carlyle and his wife Jane Welch Carlyle. She declares that to not have as equal a standing as her husband is a brilliant waste of clear vision. ‘All I surrendered, never to be remembered’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clair Tierney is a solo indie artist with airplay on BBC Radio Scotland’s Travelling Folk and Iain Anderson Show. She writes disarming magical folk songs steeped in beauty and truth. Currently recording her third studio album with Angus Lyon of Blazing Fiddles, she has two critically acclaimed albums, ‘Of the Deepest Dye’ and ‘Inside A Story’. Her first album, Of The Deepest Dye, was released in 2010 and described as ‘graceful and emotive, a work of beauty’. Her second studio album Inside a Story was recorded with producer and multi-instrumentalist Tim Jones. Inspired by her experiences of raising two children in the forest of Argyll, their walks in the wild leave the songs with an other-worldly atmosphere, rich in poetic language. Her sensitive vocals and guitar work support the delicate storytelling, while her shimmering harmonies and arrangements from producer Tim Jones add a lush boldness and gravitas to her choruses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
