Contemporary folk artist and singer-songwriter\u00a0Anna Cassidy\u00a0is set to release her highly anticipated new single,\u00a0\u2018The Dog Song\u2019, a refreshingly unique take on love that is far from your typical ballad. Drawing from her Irish roots and inspired by modern singer-songwriters, Anna brings an engaging, light-hearted, and heartfelt perspective on love – this time, through the eyes of a dog.<\/p>\n Originally from Belfast, and now based in Glasgow,\u00a0Anna Cassidy\u00a0has been steadily making a name for herself in the contemporary folk scene. Born to two Irish folk singers, music has always been an integral part of her life. She first performed alongside her parents in her early teens, where she developed her deep appreciation for Irish traditional music. In preparation for her new releases, Anna has embraced the stage name\u00a0Anna Cassidy, a nod to her evolving journey as a solo artist.<\/p>\n Anna\u2019s sound takes influence from Irish traditional music whilst drawing inspiration from iconic artists such as\u00a0Kate Bush,\u00a0Joni Mitchell, and\u00a0Carole King, all of which are evident in her evocative vocal style and piano arrangements. Anna\u2019s early career saw her supporting acts like\u00a0Bastille\u00a0and\u00a0The Killers\u00a0during the Tennent\u2019s Vital Festival in 2014 as part of electro-pop band\u00a0Go Wolf.<\/p>\n The new single features\u00a0Anna Cassidy\u00a0on piano and main\/backing vocals,\u00a0Charlie Stewart\u00a0on fiddle and double bass,\u00a0Rufus Huggan\u00a0on ukulele,\u00a0Willem McKie\u00a0on mandolin,\u00a0Signy Jakobsdottir\u00a0on percussion and\u00a0Matt Gough\u00a0on trumpet. The inspiration for the track came from witnessing a collaboration between\u00a0Duke Special\u00a0and trad group\u00a0Ulaid\u00a0in Belfast, where they performed the song\u00a0\u2018On Account of My Dog Fido\u2019 –\u00a0<\/i>a piece based on a poem by\u00a0W.J. Coleman.<\/p>\n In her words:\u00a0\u201cIn today\u2019s world we are bombarded with negative news stories, and I want my Dog Song to be a break from all that \u2013 a bit of fun.
