Ian also searched his archive of multi-track tapes of McCalmans\u2019 recordings and unearthed \u2018The Peatbog Soldiers\u2019, recorded \u2018live\u2019 in 1979 by the original lineup of Ian, Derek Moffat and Hamish Bayne. This is as good as any version of this often recorded marching song, adopted by The International Brigades.<\/p>\n<p>THE McCALMANS released their first Greentrax album (\u201cPeace and Plenty\u201d) in 1986, the year Greentrax Recordings was launched. It was subsequently awarded a Gold Disc by The Scottish Music Industry Association.<br \/>\nIn their 45 years \u2018The Macs\u2019 have toured far and wide and in many of the trouble spots of the world, from Cyprus to the Falklands and from Belize to the Gulf of Oman. They also have several TV series to their credit. In December, 2004, The McCalmans were presented with \u201cThe Hamish Henderson Award For Services To Traditional Music\u201d at the Queen\u2019s Hall, Edinburgh, followed by their entry into The Scots Trad Awards \u201cHall of Fame\u201d.
