This is the musical message set to be\u00a0spread by new trad-dub collective, An Dannsa Dub, on the release of their\u00a0debut, self-titled single.\u00a0An Dannsa Dub (The Dub Dance in Scots Gaelic) fuses the mystic sounds and\u00a0instruments of traditional Gaelic songs with the heavy, driving basslines of\u00a0dub music.<\/p>\n<p>Headed by dub producer, MC &amp; Scottish Alternative Music Award \u2018Best Live\u00a0Act\u2019 2021 nominee Tom Spirals; and trad multi-instrumentalist Euan\u00a0McLaughlin from 2021 Scots Trad Music Awards nominees Lapwyng, An\u00a0Dannsa Dub proves trad and dub can blend with ease: after all, both genres\u00a0lead you to consider the spiritual, the magical, and the unexpected.<\/p>\n<p>Stunning Scottish locations, from Crawick Multiverse (sister to Jupiter Artland\u00a0and The Garden of Cosmic Speculation) to a remote bothy on the Southern\u00a0Upland Way hiking trail, set the scene for the single\u2019s accompanying music\u00a0video; providing the eerie tale of how the An Dannsa Dub musicians came to\u00a0acquire these futuristic songs.<\/p>\n<p>Starring Creative Scotland-funded professional dance company Sanchez &amp;\u00a0Rigg and extremely intricate, hand-stitched costumes by acclaimed theatre &amp;\u00a0performance collective Oceanallover, both the single and video are wrapped\u00a0in intrigue and mystery &#8211; mapping the road for the forthcoming release of An\u00a0Dannsa Dub\u2019s five track self-titled vinyl LP in December.<\/p>\n<p>An Dannsa Dub was created with the support of Help Musician\u2019s Do It\u00a0Differently Fund, one of only a few projects to receive support out of<br \/>\nthousands of applications across the UK.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSounds like the best ceilidh you\u2019ll ever go to in your life, but on steroids\u201d &#8211;<br \/>\nPhoebe Inglis-Holmes, BBC Music Introducing<\/p>\n<p>An Dannsa Dub is the brand new collaboration between Dub MC\/Producer Tom Spirals and Traditional Musician\/Producer Euan McLaughlin. Tom regularly tours internationally with an array of acts including Glasgow Sound System Collective, Mungo&#8217;s HiFi while Euan performs internationally with a range of artists including award winning Nu-Folk trio, Lapwyng.<\/p>\n<p>An Dannsa Dub, the lead single and title track from the upcoming record releasing on November 5th. The record was self recorded from their respective homes and features vocals from acclaimed Gaelic Singer Ellen MacDonald, Bodhran from Callum Convoy and a spoken story, narrated by Gillian MacDonald as well as Spirals and McLaughlin&#8217;s talents on Flute, Fiddle, Guitars, Bouzouki, Synths, Keys and more.
