Have you ever wished you could speak to those who have crossed over? I have often had this thought of late, and it inspired me to write this song, ‘Long Shadows’. Featuring Bev Whelan on Tin Whistle, Rayelle Goodman on Violin, Chantal Hughes on additional harmonies and produced by Roger Bashew.<\/p>\n

\nWhen daylight wanes and dark night is calling
\nJust as the long shadow falls,
\nJust as the birds still, the air cools, they beckon,
\nThat’s when the long shadow falls..
\nIt’s in the breeze you hear them whisper a welcome
\nScars that open and bleed,
\nAnd so you straddle their world
\nWith one foot in your world
\nAs the moon is waxing,
\nOr perhaps it’s waning
\nRejoined in rapture and there’s no perdition
\nFear not the wages of sin,
\nBecause the skies boast the colors they bathe in
\nand no long shadows therein,
\nBut in the breeze they whisper,
\n“come in your own time,
\nthere’s still so much to do”
\nAnd so you straddle their world
\nwith one foot in your world

Scottish born Christine Weir is a singer and songwriter who grew up mainly in South Africa when her parents emigrated there, but has remained passionate about her Celtic roots.<\/p>\n
