Rory Macdonald of Runrig says: “The final two tracks It’s Ower and Aye the Gean truly deserve to become classics in their field, and if there’s any justice, ought to be covered, again and again, so abundantly rich lyrically and melodically, staying with you long after you’ve finished listening.”

Gerda was nominated for the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards 2014, as Scots Singer of the Year. Her album NIGHT TOUCHES DAY has been widely acclaimed. Like her poetry, drama and prose, some of Gerda’s songs are autobiographical, some are other people’s stories, some a combination of both. They cover a range of styles, from folk to swing. Theatre collaborations brought her together with the fine musicians on this album: Konrad Wiszniewski – saxes; Seylan Baxter – cello; James Ross – piano; Rob MacNeacail – bass guitar and harmonium; Norwegian multi-instrumentalist Kyrre Slind – guitars, mandolin, banjo and lute, and Inge Thomson on accordion. “One of the most refreshingly original albums I’ve come across in a very long time…defies definition – truly inspirational.” COLUM SANDS, BBC RADIO ULSTER. “Stunning songwriting…singing and arrangements are impeccable…full of lovely wee quirks and surprises, it regularly caught me out by going to places totally unexpected but totally right.
