Backed up by strings, drones and layered vocals, the song implores us to live for the moment and the real glories of nature, not the imagined glories of hereafter”, and by The Scotsman as “strikingly beautiful.”

Gerda was nominated for the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards 2014, as Scots Singer of the Year. Her album NIGHT TOUCHES DAY has been widely acclaimed. Like her poetry, drama and prose, some of Gerda’s songs are autobiographical, some are other people’s stories, some a combination of both. They cover a range of styles, from folk to swing. Theatre collaborations brought her together with the fine musicians on this album: Konrad Wiszniewski – saxes; Seylan Baxter – cello; James Ross – piano; Rob MacNeacail – bass guitar and harmonium; Norwegian multi-instrumentalist Kyrre Slind – guitars, mandolin, banjo and lute, and Inge Thomson on accordion. “One of the most refreshingly original albums I’ve come across in a very long time…defies definition – truly inspirational.” COLUM SANDS, BBC RADIO ULSTER. “Stunning songwriting…singing and arrangements are impeccable…full of lovely wee quirks and surprises, it regularly caught me out by going to places totally unexpected but totally right.
