This is the first track from the “Voyage of the Hector” suite written by John Somerville and commissioned by Feis Rois. The suite of music chronollogically tells the story of the Hector’s journey as it made its dramatic journey from Ullapool to Pictou, Nova Scotia in the summer of 1773.<\/p>\n
John Somerville is one of an exciting new wave of Scottish accordion players and composers known for pushing the boundaries of folk music whilst retaining his Highland roots. Originally from Abriachan near Inverness, his playing takes in a wide range of influences – from traditional west Highland and Ceilidh tunes through to Celtic and European Folk. He has worked with many top bands in the contemporary Scottish music scene including Treacherous Orchestra, Croft No Five, Box Club, Salsa Celtica and Session A9.<\/p>\n
