There are awards of up to \u00a33k plus additional support for three projects to develop new work. Apply by&nbsp;<strong>Tuesday 10 January 2023 at 11:59pm.<\/strong><br>Email&nbsp;<strong>GL.learningteam@glasgowlife.org.uk<\/strong>&nbsp;now for an application form.<br><em>(Please read the following information first for application criteria)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ABOUT GUIR!<\/strong><br>In recent years Glasgow Life has played an important role in creating and developing work for diverse artists interested in experimental approaches to Gaelic artforms. The incubator programme GUIR!, started five years ago, incorporates a collaborative and learning model to develop new Gaelic work across all disciplines, and annually invites artists to submit proposals to participate in the scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GUIR! is an opportunity to research and develop Gaelic Art practices and forms in the early stages of project development. Based on the equivalent of a 3-week full time residency or a 6-week part-time period, with a Gaelic Cultural immersion learning programme, this is an exciting opportunity to develop new, challenging and embryonic ideas to the next stage of development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CRITERIA<\/strong><br>We are inviting proposals for ideas that respond to one or more of the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 previously unheard or hidden stories from Gaelic communities in Glasgow<br>\u2022 projects that open new pathways for creativity within Gaelic Culture&nbsp;<br>\u2022 projects that encourage collaboration with other artists, organisations or the Gaelic sector<br>\u2022 responses to the current context with the Gaelic vernacular, colonialism, land ownership and the climate crisis<br>\u2022 projects from a wide range of art-forms including storytelling, ceilidh, literature, music, dance, drama, live performance, new writing, craft, film, animation and visual arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>KEY DATES &#8211; GUIR 2023<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>Successful applicants must be available to attend the following sessions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>27, 28 Feb and 1, 2 March 2023 (9:30-4:30pm)<br>4-day on-line course with all the GUIR! associated artists (Gaelic culture, histories, resources and collaborative working)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15, 22, 29 March (2-4pm) and 5 April 2023<br>4 collaborative weekly workings sessions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>w\/b 17 April 2023 &#8211; Open or discreet live sharing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FURTHER INFORMATION<\/strong><br>\u2022 Up to 3 projects will be selected for delivery in March\/April 2023<br>\u2022 There will be a budget of up to \u00a33,000 per project plus additional in-kind support<br>\u2022 Successful applicants must be available to attend a 4-day on-line course, 4 collaborative weekly workings sessions and sharing event<br>\u2022 Open to Gaelic-speaking (any level) artists and non-Gaelic speakers with a vested interest in Gaelic culture<br>\u2022 If you are non-Gaelic speaking you must nominate a Gaelic artist to work on your project, and your fee should be allocated to that Gaelic speaking collaborative artist(s) as part of the project&nbsp;<br>\u2022 Depending on the nature of your idea, an in-kind support package may be developed for each project with the help of partners and within the capacity of the project<br>\u2022 An online support model will be in operation throughout the incubation period to support the development of your work&nbsp;<br>\u2022 A discreet budget may be allocated e.g. towards online production costs or materials&nbsp;<br>\u2022 The project cannot already be an existing project or previously developed idea<br>\u2022 The idea should culminate in a live sharing (discreet or open).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CLOSING DATE<\/strong><br>To submit a project idea, please email GL.learningteam@glasgowlife.org.uk for an application form.
