Taking place from 12pm at the CCA Glasgow on Wednesday the 10th December, the event will be an opportunity to take a closer look into specific topics of interest such as Equality and Support in the Caring Role and Intersectionality. There will be representatives present from organisations such as Help Musicians UK, Musicians Union and Bogha-Frois. Sound Engineer Carla Feuerstein will lead a Live Sound workshop and the event concludes with a celebratory performance at the CCA in the evening featuring some of Scotland\u2019s most innovative musicians and special one-off collaborations.<\/p>\n<p>Although the day\u2019s discussions will mainly focus on issues for those working in the folk and traditional music industry, the event is open to all who have an interest in making the music and arts scene a more equal and inclusive space.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018While there has been some real progress in recent years in terms of gender equality and awareness in trad\/folk music, there\u2019s still so much to discuss and improve upon and I hope this event will be a chance for us to delve a bit deeper into some of the specific challenges and issues that are yet to be resolved. It\u2019s also an opportunity to look at and learn about other areas of inequality so that we can work together at making our industry as fair and inclusive a space as possible\u2019 Rachel Newton, The BIT Collective<br \/>\nLaunched in 2017, BIT Collective aims to identify, explore and address gender equality issues in the folk and traditional music scene with a shared objective of instigating positive change through discussion, support and progressive action.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets can be purchased on the door. \u00a35 for the daytime events and \u00a310\/\u00a38 to include access to the evening concert.
