We know that musicians\u2019 career paths can vary greatly and the point at which to apply will be unique to everyone. We can support opportunities such as short courses, workshops, training and short-term periods of mentoring with an expert in your field, either in the UK or internationally.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who can apply?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The fund is open to emerging and professional musicians of all genres and disciplines. As an individual you may be an instrumentalist, composer, producer, conductor, vocalist or singer-songwriter etc. We can also support bands or ensembles consisting of 6 members or less. To apply you must:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Be aged over 18<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Have been resident in the UK for at least 3 consecutive years<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Be in financial need and without significant backing<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Already have an active career and be able to clearly demonstrate the following:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Exceptional ability within their discipline<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; High quality musical output<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Regularly working (performances, commissions, releases) at a professional level (getting paid for your work)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; An impressive track record with notable career highlights and the potential to achieve a national or international impact with your field<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; An entrepreneurial spirit and dedication toward a career as a musician<\/p>\n<p>If applying as a group<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 50% must meet the criteria as above<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 You must have been established and playing together regularly for at least 1 year<\/p>\n<p><strong>What can we fund?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Through the Transmission Fund we can support the following activities:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Tailored development opportunities such as workshops, artist residencies, conferences, masterclasses, writing retreats and short courses<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Short periods of training and mentoring with a leading professional in your field to improve your creative practice or offer support and advice ahead of an important career opportunity (eg. a period of touring or recording)<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 We can fund travel, accommodation and access costs relating to the above<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Opportunities must be primarily focused on developing a career as a musician<\/p>\n<p>Location: All Scotland<\/p>\n<p>For further information, please contact <a href=\"mailto:scotland@helpmusicians.org.uk\">scotland@helpmusicians.org.uk<\/a> or visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.helpmusicians.org.uk\/creative-programme\/current-opportunities\/transmission-fund\">https:\/\/www.helpmusicians.org.uk\/creative-programme\/current-opportunities\/transmission-fund<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The deadline is Monday 08 July 2019 at 17:00.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Transmission Fund provides grants of \u00a3500 &#8211; \u00a31,500 to fund opportunities that focus on developing your creative practice.
