We are interested in proposals for development activities in the performing arts\u00a0where a clear and specific learning opportunity has been identified. This could be for the\u00a0making of new work, research, travel, training\u00a0or\u00a0mentoring.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0awards are\u00a0for\u00a0individuals who have been practicing professionally for no more than 10 years, have completed their formal education and are resident in the UK.\u00a0We cannot accept applications for course fees or any associated study or living costs.<\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0fund has been created using legacy funds from the BBC Performing Arts Fund to provide individuals with direct support for their professional and creative development, without the expectation of an specific product output and\/or public engagement. Grants are awarded in two rounds, the deadline for this second round is 9 January 2018. The fund is now open for applications.<\/p>\n<p>The BBC Performing Arts Fund existed to support emerging talent across the performing arts sector. The Fund awarded over \u00a35m during the 12 years of its operation. On the Fund\u2019s closure in 2016, and in line with its Charitable Deed of Trust, part of the remaining funds were transferred to Jerwood Charitable Foundation in order to continue its work in nurturing talent.<\/p>\n<p>Artists awarded bursaries in the first round of the Performing Arts Micro Bursaries were:\u00a0Lucy Bradley,\u00a0Ira Brand, Roxanne Carney,\u00a0Rachael Clerke, Liz Counsell, Marivi da Silva,\u00a0Daisy Douglas, Philip Douglas,\u00a0Ellie Dubois,\u00a0Helen Edwards,\u00a0Sarah Emmott,\u00a0Matthew Evans,\u00a0Emma Frankland,\u00a0Ruth Holdsworth,\u00a0Vanessa Kisuule,\u00a0Davide Levi,\u00a0Zara McFarlane, Ronan McMahon,\u00a0Nathan Penlington, Joshua Pharo,\u00a0Lee Reynolds, Arron Sparks, Melanie Spencer, Xi Nan and\u00a0C\u00e9cile Tr\u00e9moli\u00e8res.<\/p>\n<p>How to apply<\/p>\n<p>The Performing Arts Micro Bursaries are open for application until\u00a05pm on 9 January 2018. There is no application fee.<\/p>\n<p>Who can apply?<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tIndependent artists, makers and producers working in the performing arts. This includes, but is not limited to, individuals working as musicians, composers, directors, writers, choreographers, theatre designers, producers and\/or performance makers<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tIndividuals who have been practicing professionally for no more than 10 years<\/p>\n<p>We are able to support:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tResearch costs for a new artistic idea or collaboration<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tThe cost of testing out new ideas and experimenting<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tMentoring, coaching or professional training<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tAttendance at festivals\/conferences\/symposia<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tTravel costs associated with research or professional development opportunities<\/p>\n<p>We are not able to support:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tProjects that do not have a predominantly performing arts focus<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tProjects simply seeking match funding, or which are conceived of as a small part of a larger grant application or project<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tProjects which already have a performance outcome identified and\/or programmed<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tApplications from or for the benefit of performing arts companies or their programmes<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tAnyone not resident in the UK<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tApplications from anyone who is still in full time education or vocational training<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tRehearsal, production or touring costs<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tGeneral course fees or associated costs of formal education<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tApplications solely for the purpose of purchasing equipment or materials<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tRetrospective activity (i.e. activity that has or will have already taken place before the end of the decision making process). Eligible activity must not begin before 1 March 2018<\/p>\n<p>Selection process<\/p>\n<p>The selectors are: Nikki Tomlinson, Lead Artist Advisor, Artsadmin, and Independent Producer; Soweto Kinch, Alto-Saxophonist and MC; and Jon Opie, Deputy Director, Jerwood Charitable Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Applications will be assessed on:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tMeeting the eligibility criteria.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tThe potential of the activity you have identified to impact positively on your practice\/career.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tThe need for the activity \u2013 would it happen otherwise?<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tYour ability to manage and make a success of the activity.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that activity requested to be supported cannot commence before 1 March 2018<\/p>\n<p>All\u00a0applicants will be informed of the outcome by week commencing 26 February 2018. Title your file: Last Name, First Name, PAMB.<\/p>\n<p>In your statement please include the following:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tAn introduction to you and your practice<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tWhat the developmental opportunity you want to undertake is and when will it take place<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tWhat you hope to achieve, and how you will go about it<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tWhy it is important for your personal and\/or professional development<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tA budget showing much money\u00a0you need and what it would\u00a0be used for. It is not necessary for there to be any other funding, but if there are other finances being used towards the activity please state what they are<\/p>\n<p>In the same PDF as your artist CV and statement, you may also include up to three web links to examples of your work. These may contain images, sound files or video links but we will not view artist websites as a whole. If a video or sound link is password protected, please use the password JMICRO.
